When avocado season hits, you can never have enough healthy avocado recipes on hand to take advantage of the creamy fruit. Appetizers, entrees and more!
Healthy avocado recipes get a lot of play in my house. As much as we love a bowl of guacamole for dipping, avocados also star in everything from avocado toast to tostadas to shrimp salads.
When I walk in the door after my morning walk each day, I can barely think of anything but my soon-to-be-wolfed-down fried eggs and avocado, doused in hot sauce.
Every single morning. And I wouldn’t change it for a thousand bucks. A million, maybe. I could buy an avocado grove with a million!
In the meantime, I’m content to dream up as many healthy avocado recipes as my brain can handle. They’re one of the only ingredients I can think of that actually works in appetizers, entrees, side dishes, soups, salads and even desserts (subbing in for other fats).
Below are 20 of my favorite healthy avocado recipes. I divided the recipes into four sections. Click on the category below to skip directly to those recipes.

How to ripen avocados:
Did you know that avocados don’t start ripening until they have been removed from the tree? That was a fun fact that I learned when I visited an avocado grove several years ago.
There are a couple of ways to speed up the ripening process. First, place the avocado on a sunny windowsill rather than in the fridge or on the counter.
The second option, which we use often, is to place the avocado in a brown paper bag with a banana or apple. Both of those fruits release a gas called ethylene that help the avocado to ripen faster.

I won’t go into too much detail here because I’ve written an entire post on how to prepare an avocado, which includes tips and photos for peeling and cutting the creamy fruit.
