Christina Fugazi, candidate for mayor of Stockton discusses campaign (2024)

ARE RUNNING TO BE STOCKTON’S NEXT MAYOR. CURRENT MAYOR KEVIN LINCOLN IS RUNNING FOR CONGRESS. KCRA 3’S ANAHITA JAFARI SPOKE WITH PATTY LAST WEEK, AND TODAY SHE SAT DOWN WITH FUGAZI TO HEAR ABOUT HER PRIORITIES. IF SHE WERE TO TAKE OFFICE. ENOUGH IS ENOUGH WITH THE CRIME. ENOUGH IS ENOUGH WITH THE TRASH. ENOUGH IS ENOUGH WITH THE HOMELESS. WHERE WE’VE GOTTEN MONEY AND WE HAVEN’T SPENT IT IN A WAY THAT HAS TRULY ADDRESSED THE UNDERLYING ISSUES BEHIND HOMELESSNESS. CHRISTINA FUGAZI SAYS HER NUMBER ONE PRIORITY IS CRIME IN THE CITY, AND POLICE RETENTION. WE HAVE A GANG WAR GOING ON HERE IN STOCKTON TO THAT WE HAVE TO ADDRESS. AND LIKE I SAID, WITH OUR LOW STAFFING NUMBERS, WE REALLY CAN’T BE EVERYWHERE ALL THE TIME. AS A HIGH SCHOOL ASSISTANT PRINCIPAL, SHE SAYS A LOT OF IT HAS TO DO WITH YOUTH. AND UNFORTUNATELY, THERE WAS NO BATHROOM, SO KIDS WOULD GO IN THE BUSHES. I’M AT THE FRONT LINES, AT THE GROUND LEVEL. I SEE WHAT OUR KIDS ARE HAVING TO GO THROUGH ALL THE SMOKE SHOPS. THEY HAVE TO WALK BY LIQUOR STORES, THEY HAVE TO WALK BY HOMELESS PEOPLE. THEY HAVE TO WALK BY ON THEIR WAY TO SCHOOL. FUGAZI SAYS SHE HAS FOUGHT HARD TO GET RESOURCES LIKE THESE BATHROOMS FOR KIDS AND THE UNHOUSED. WE NEED TO HAVE RESTROOMS THAT ARE ACCESSIBLE, THAT ALSO HAVE SECURITY MEASURES IN THEM, BECAUSE OTHERWISE WHAT HAPPENS IS YOU HAVE PEOPLE THAT SET THEM ON FIRE. YOU HAVE PEOPLE THAT SHOVE STUFF DOWN THE TOILET. THESE ARE PRETTY MUCH TAMPER PROOF. AS FOR FUGAZI’S TAKE ON HER OPPONENT, TOM PETTY, BRINGING HIS FRIEND MIKE TYSON TO TOWN. I’VE BEEN TO AN EVENT BEFORE WHERE TOM HAS BROUGHT TYSON TO THIS CITY, BUT TYSON ISN’T IMPROVING OUR COMMUNITY. HE IS NOT CHANGED FROM WHEN HE WAS HERE TO HOW HE IS HERE NOW TO IMPROVE IT. IN STOCKTON, I’M ANAHITA JAFARI, KCRA THREE NEWS. AND SAN JOAQUIN COUNTY SUPERVISOR TOM PATTI IS ALSO RUNNING FOR MAYOR OF STOCKTON. HE SAYS THAT HIS PRIORITY IS ADDRESSING HOMELESSNESS IN STOCKTON. HE ALSO SUPPORTS CURRENT HOUSING PROJECTS AND WOULD LIKE TO SEE MORE AFFORDABLE HOUSING WITH A FOCUS ON SHELTER BEDS. HE SAYS THAT MORE NEEDS TO BE DONE TO RECRUIT AND RETAIN STOCKTON POLICE OFFICERS, A
