It was an honor to be the keynote speaker at the inauguration ceremony of Frank D. Sanchez as the president of Manhattanville College. I enjoyed speaking about some of the shared history between The City University of New York and Manhattanville. Kudos to the Manhattanville community for their change in status from a college to a university!#highereducation #inaugurations

Very happy to have been able to visit with some NCS Scholars yesterday, particularly with Eternity Council and Kyara Rollock from Medgar Evers College, CUNY. My thanks to our lead partner on this pilot program to support students affected by home insecurity, the Neighborhood Coalition for Shelter, Inc. for their leadership and vision, and also to our philanthropic partners, particularly Trinity Church Wall Street.#highereducation #homelessness #studentsuccess

Thanks to Dr. TUAJUANDA JORDAN, president of St. Mary's College of Maryland and Co-Chair of the Carnegie Foundation for the Advancement of Teaching's Postsecondary Commission, for making time to visit us at The City University of New York. I enjoyed talking about the work of the Commission and our goals to identify powerful levers to propel more low-income, underrepresented, and first-generation students through postsecondary education into purposeful careers.

We have to make sure that every student applying to The City University of New York has completed and submitted their FAFSA (financial aid) forms. Please spread the word and let them know that we have a team of students and staff ready to help with the application process!

I was delighted to be visited by former The City University of New York Trustee Freida Foster to discuss potential collaborations. She is the Vice Chair for the NYS Workers’ Compensation Board, a member of the CUNY Graduate School of Public Health and Health Policy Dean’s Advisory Council and a director of the Harlem Community Development Corporation.

Thanks to The City College of New York for inviting me to the NYC Future of Energy Conference. The conference addressed the vital question of how, in the face of a changing climate, does NYC meet the twin challenges of obtaining energy sustainably and distributing that energy efficiently to its citizens. In the picture: Rosemarie Wesson, Associate Vice Chancellor for Research at The City University of New York; Tony Liss, Provost; the keynote speaker, Rohit Aggarwala, Commissioner, New York City Department of Environmental Protection; and and Marta Gutman, Dean, School of Architecture, CCNY.#energy #higher education
