BUFFALO, N.Y. (WIVB) -- The Town of Hamburg has been awarded a Transportation Alternatives Program grant worth nearly $2.8 million following $18 million in funding for various cities and towns in Western New York announced Monday by the NYS Department of Transportation.
New sidewalks, bike lanes and crossings will be constructed on South Park Avenue from the Village of Hamburg line to Scranton Road with the $2,785,194 grant.

BUFFALO, N.Y. (WIVB) -- A North Carolina man was charged with DWI following a head-on crash early Sunday morning that injured another man, Buffalo Police said.
Just after 2:30 a.m., the man, 43, was allegedly traveling the wrong way on Route 33 near the Best Street exit. His Ford Edge struck another vehicle head-on, according to police.
Police say a 25-year-old Cheektowaga driver was hit. He was transported to ECMC and taken into surgery for multiple injuries.
