The Stars eliminated 2022 Stanley Cup champions, the Colorado Avalanche, in just six second round games. It culminated in a hard-fought, 2-1 overtime win for Dallas at Ball Arena on May 17. Jamie Benn forced overtime and kept the Stars in the fight with his third period goal, sliding the puck past Alexander Georgiev at close range. Matt duch*ene found the net again in overtime for the win.

The Oilers went deep into Game 7 with the Vancouver Canucks, where they won 3-2 to advance to the Conference Finals. Edmonton picked up all three goals in the 2nd period off Ryan Nugent-Hopkins, Cody Ceci and Zach Hyman, and held off a Vancouver surge in the third to claim victory.
