Canned Tuna Fish, whenever I am making a recipe that calls for canned tuna fish, I always buy thechunk light tuna fish in water.
Mayonnaise, this is my go to brand.
Hard Boiled Eggs add protein and you don't even know they are in the filling.
Dill Pickle Relish, this is my go to brand.
Crescent Roll Dough, bought in a can, I like to buy the sheets rather than the rolls with perforation. If you can't find the sheets, then buy the rolls and just pinch theperforations together.
Tuxedo Sesame Seeds, these are a mixture ofblack and white sesame seeds.
Cheese, I went with a smoked gouda for this recipe.
Tips and Substitutions
- Be sure to drain the tuna well and flake it with a fork before adding the other ingredients.
- I love to use thisbiscuit cutterfor chopping hard boiled eggs. Its what my mom always used, and it is all I have ever used! Apastry blenderworks great as well.
- Substitute puff pastry dough for the crescent roll dough.
- Add a teaspoon of mayonnaise or sriracha to the tuna mixture for a boost of flavor.
- When braiding the dough, be sure to fold the top and bottom over the pastry first, then braid, tucking the dough in a criss cross pattern.
